Prahas Potting Soil is a complete medium — it does not need frequent topping up. The built-in nutrition lasts 2–3 months, after which light supplementation and eventual repotting maintain growing conditions at their best.
The vermicompost and cow manure in Prahas Potting Soil provide sufficient nutrition for the first 6–8 weeks of active growth. The neem flakes provide pest protection for the first 2 months. During this period, simply water regularly and enjoy.
After 6–8 weeks, begin a fortnightly seaweed extract foliar spray (2ml per litre). At 8–10 weeks, add a top dressing of vermicompost (a small handful per pot) and water in. This extends the productive life of the mix through the full growing season.
Tip: Heavy-feeding plants like tomatoes and brinjal benefit from a humic acid soil drench (2g per litre) once a month from week 8 onwards.
After a full growing season, potting mix becomes depleted and compacted. The best practice is to repot annually with fresh Prahas Potting Soil — remove the plant, refresh the mix entirely, and replant. For large containers or raised beds where full repotting is impractical, remove and replace the top 8–10cm with fresh mix.
The two best times to repot are just before the monsoon (May–June) and at the start of spring (February–March). Both coincide with natural growth surges — plants establish in fresh medium fastest when their own biology is already pushing forward.
